Friday's Update, from Daniella

On Friday, we heard from the Infectious Diseases doctors what the fungus was. It is called Mucor, the one that THEY were hoping it wasn't. It's not the Aspergillis fungus they first thought it was. In this hospital, I was told they see one or two cases a year. Treatment is very long and daily doses of this antifungal medication will be needed. Healthy people fight this off with no problem, but Stefan, having no immunity, will have a very hard time. He was being treated for this type of fungus from the start. I understand this does not impede his Leukemia treatment nor will it slow his going home. Suzia will have a more informative update posted soon. Thank you again for all your thoughts and prayers for Stefan.
