Thu, 9/29 - Think 1000!!!

Stefan's still working hard at trying to get his white blood count up to 1000. It seems to be going up and down like a yo-yo. Yesterday it dropped to 300, today it's back up to 500. He still hasn't reached that magic number yet (1000!), and when he does, he's got to keep his count at or over 1000 for 24-48 hours before Dr. Olga will think about sending him home.

So... Everyone think POSITIVE! Think ONE THOUSAND OR MORE!!! Send your happy thoughts Stefan's way! I know there is great power in positive thinking - your prayers and thoughts have gotten him this far. Send him some good mojo, so his white count shoots for the sky! If he gets his count up by Friday or Saturday, there's a very good chance that he'll get the OK to go home as soon as Monday next week!

Steve (my brother) and I took it upon ourselves to do something about Daniella and Stefan's bedroom back at home. When Daniella was home on Monday, we got her OK to empty out the bedroom, at first, just to clean it thoroughly. Once we had it cleared out, Steve and I decided it would be great if we could paint it for them too. So, prep work was done, I went shopping for paint, Steve patched all the minor stuff (nail holes in the walls, etc). On Wednesday, Steve, Karen, and I went over to the house and primed and painted the ceiling. Though Steve and Karen had to leave earlier than I did, I stayed and painted the ceiling as well (mostly because I think it might actually need two coats to cover all of the spots from water damage).

On Friday, I'll try to head back up there to start painting the walls. I don't mind painting - I find it very calming. If I can't finish (or don't get up there), then Steve and I (and Karen too, I think) will finish painting the room on Saturday, after Ela's soccer game. Then, we can move the furniture back into place. On Sunday, I'm going to go back and make sure all the messes we made are cleaned up. When we're there on Sunday, the kids can help by dusting and dry-mopping the floor downstairs, while I wash the bathroom (so Daniella doesn't have to come home to do that). Everything will be ready for Stefan to come home (hopefully) on Monday!

Well, that's the news today. He's up. Spirits are up. He's walking the halls, eating more than two weeks ago, gaining some more color in his cheeks. And he's very optimistic about going home very, very soon - so don't forget - think 1000! for Stefan this weekend!
