Well, just to keep you up to date: Saturday morning, the home health nurse drew blood for cultures. All day Saturday we putzed around the house, doing this and a little of that, etc. By late afternoon, the nurse called us with the results and she conferred with the doctor. Stefan needs to have platelets infused tonight. We could go to the local hospital or back to Northwestern Memorial, well we opted to go to NMH because they have all the records on the computer there and very handy.
When we got to the hospital downtown, his temperature was a little elevated. Soooooo - that meant he had to stay in overnight. NOT what we wanted to hear, for a few more days at least. But WE did stay overnight. I only took the Posaconazole with us, because his dosage time was close to taking when we left for the E.R. on Saturday night.
I'm writing this Sunday morning now and the doctors were just in to check up on Stefan. Well guess what... his temperature is still a little elevated and that means......Yes, stay again till Monday morning or afternoon.
We were going to go visit our nieces and nephews and their children for dinner today. One of Stefan's 3 godchildren, Janette, and her husband Paul are in town for 2 days from Florida. But that has changed now that Stefan has to stay in the hospital till maybe Monday some time. Today he will be getting a unit or two of blood and more platelets. Our appointment for Tuesday morning might be moved to Monday, since we will be there anyways. For now, that is the plan.
I am taking some dinner for Stefan to eat, cause he said that the food here in the hospital does not taste good to him. So I stopped home to get a few things and I go back to spend the day and tomorrow with him again. Yes, I know he complained to all that I spent a LOT of time with him there the first time he was in for a month. But then the second round of Chemo, I "abondoned" him and left him there alone. (Not true, I was there 2 nights out of 6). Sooooo what is the right amount to spend there? You tell me.
That's all I got for now.
