Looks like he's coming home today!

Well... after four weeks away from home, it looks like Stefan will be returning home today. They were switching out his central line for a pic line, so he could still get meds at home easily. Then they were going to give him today's round of Ambisome (the anti-fungal meds), which takes four hours to run, including the saline bolus before and after.

Daniella went home to get the van to bring him back home, and ended up calling with some bad news. Yesterday's freaky strong thunderstorms dumped water in their basement. The Koivuns and Macas are going over to help clean up the aftermath, so Daniella can get Stefan settled in at home. In their "new" bedroom - okay, so the same dressers are back in there, but the room has a new coat of paint on the walls and we finally moved the king-sized bed in there. {They bought the new bed back in June to replace their queen-sized bed, but hadn't moved it into their room.}
On the plus side, Stefan's numbers have been getting stronger. His white blood count was up to 3.6 this morning (3600), and his platelets and red blood count were also stronger, and his hemoglobin was 9.9 (needs to stay over 9 or he gets blood transfusion). He's feeling stronger, if not phyisically, then definitely back to his old self emotionally! He's grumpy and agitated at being cooped up for four weeks, and he's antsy as can be to get out of there. I think he told himself that he wouldn't be "in" (the hospital) for more than a month, and here it is four weeks, and creeping on that "one month" timeframe. I don't blame him, though. Seeing how long he's been in the hospital already, and knowing he'll be back for more extended-stay stints at the hospital again... I'd be anxious to get home as soon as I could too.

That's it for now - always happy to report good news!

Thank you all for your positive thoughts and prayers. We couldn't have made it this far without all your help.
